Our new season of talks starts next Wednesday at the slightly later time of 7.30pm at the usual venue the observatory library.

The speaker is Roddy Hegarty who will speak about the expulsions and migrations from north Armagh after the Battle of the Diamond.

He will explore the background to the events at the Diamond in 1795 and will assess the impact of the events of that day on community relations in the generation following. The talk will also look briefly at the smaller but parallel migrations of Protestants from the area up to 1815 prompted by both politics and economics.
